State Forest Campgrounds
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has over 50 rustic State Forest Campgrounds (SFCs) managed by the Michigan DNR. Unlike state parks, these campgrounds do not accept reservations; they operate strictly on a first-come, first-served basis and cost $15–$20 per night. They offer a primitive experience with vault toilets and potable water from a hand-pump, but no electricity or modern showers.
