Adventure Mine

What was nice about this place is that you can take the hiking trails on your own and explore at your own pace. My wife got stung by a hornet. Luckily, we had her EpiPen with us. Some of the trails looked like they would make great mountain bike trails. We opted to explore just the outside of the area instead of exploring the mine shafts.

Tour Options & Activities

The Adventure Mining Company offers guided underground tours tailored to varying levels of physical activity:

• Prospector’s Tour ($38 adults, $16 kids): A family-friendly, 1.5-hour underground walking tour through the main tunnels. No age restriction.
• Miner’s Tour ($78): A 2-to-3-hour rugged excursion for ages 12 and up. It is the only tour that requires you to rappel 80 feet down an underground shaft in darkness and crawl through tight slopes.
• Captain’s Tour ($175): An immersive 5-to-6-hour expedition to the lower levels. It runs on select days, requires advanced reservations, and includes a traditional underground pasty lunch.
• Above-Ground Trails: The property features 4 miles of multi-use hiking and single-track mountain biking trails passing historic ruins. It hosts the annual Miner’s Revenge mountain bike race, where participants ride through a portion of the actual mine underground.

Important Visiting Tips

• Dates & Hours: The season runs from late May (Memorial Day) through mid-October. They are open Monday–Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time (note: they close on Wednesdays after Labor Day).
• Temperature: The interior stays a constant 48°F (9°C) year-round. Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt regardless of summer weather.
• Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes or boots are strictly required due to loose rock and uneven pathways.
