This post is about the Hermansville Car Show. At the same time, other events happen at the park, but this blog post just goes over the car show itself.
The Hermansville Car and Motorcycle Show is a long-running, community-focused automotive event held annually in Hermansville, Michigan (Meyer Township). Organized by local enthusiasts like the Rusty Nuts Car Club, the event gathers a diverse lineup of classic cars, hot rods, customs, trucks, and motorcycles from across the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
Event Overview & Schedule
The show traditionally takes place during the 4th of July holiday weekend (often the first Saturday of July). It is anchored near the scenic Hermansville Lake park grounds.
- Registration: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Voting: Concludes around 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM
- Trophy Presentation: Held at 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM
Participant & Spectator Info
- Open to All Classes: The exhibition welcomes vehicles and motorcycles of all makes, models, and years.
- Fees: There is a $10 entry fee for participants looking to display their vehicle and compete for trophies.
- Spectator Admission: Free for all visitors.
- Perks: Door prizes are drawn and given out to attendees throughout the daytime festivities.
The event frequently pairs with local food vendors, music, and community fundraisers, making it a hallmark summer gathering for the small historic lumber town.
Car Parade
People line up along the street to view cars from the car show go down the street in a parade. Kids wait by the side of the street to collect candy being thrown from some of these vehicles.

Mustang II and Cobra II
I have a soft spot for these cars even though they are not well-liked. During the 70’s they had to conserve fuel, so Ford brought out the Mustang II’s and Cobra II’s. Despite some of them having V8 302 cu motors, they still lacked in performance. That didn’t stop the American public from beefing these out to go really fast, though!
Potvin Racing Cams
I had to take a picture of this one because my wife’s maiden name is Potvin. I don’t know if they are related, though.
Potvin Racing Cams was an iconic, highly influential brand from the golden age of American hot rodding and land-speed racing. Founded by master engine-builder Chuck Potvin in 1948 in Anaheim, California, the company became legendary for producing some of the absolute fastest camshaft profiles for Ford Flathead V8 engines.
The Potvin Legacy & The “425 Eliminator”
Chuck Potvin built his own custom cam grinding machines and master generators to meticulously craft performance lobes. While he developed several popular grinds (such as the everyday street-performing Potvin 3/8 and 3/4 race cams), his definitive masterpiece was the 425 Eliminator.
